National Theatre “Ivan Vazov” is located in the city center of Sofia near the National Art Gallery. You will recognize it by its unique facade in dark red and white, with gold glorious ornaments. Right in front of the building you will see a large illuminated fountain around which young people and checkmate players often gather. The National Theatre is founded in 1904 and its current name “Ivan Vazov” dates back to 1962. The most interesting Bulgarian theatre directors and set designers were placed on its stage during the years, who had created the face of the modern Bulgarian theater. If you decide to visit a performance at the National Theatre you will have to make a reservation. Ticket prices are between 8 and 20 leva.
