National Archaeological Museum

National Archaeological Institute with Museum is a Bulgarian research institute in Sofia, part of the structure of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It was created in 1892. The museum is the former Buyuk (Grand) Mosque from the fifteenth century. There are five exhibition halls in the building: Central Hall, Prehistory, Middle Ages, Treasury and special temporary exhibition. Currently Archaeological Museum in Sofia preserves one of the richest archaeological collections in the Balkans. Located in the center of Sofia, close to the buildings of the Presidency and the National Assembly.
